Iron? Steel? Aluminium? METAL

Today's post will be about a topic close to my heart(I'm still wondering if I have one, but for now we'll just assume I do)
Music. And not that stupid pussy stuff like Simple Plan. They whine alot.
It's like listening to my baby cousin. Actually she sounds better.
Anyway. Metal has not been around for long. 30 or so years. Developed in late 60s and early 70s. People seem to think Metal = lots of screaming. According to sources, Metal developed from THE BLUES. That's right. THE BLUES. So you can't say that it's just crazy people screaming. It's THE BLUES. Blue's rock and psychedelic rock. Some early pioneers were people like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. That means pieces like Stairway to Heaven and the famous Smoke on the Water also counts as Metal. You'll notice that there is NO SCREAMING in either Smoke on the Water or Stairway to Heaven. Oh by the way, you'll notice that they are 6 mins and 8 mins respectively. Anyone knows why songs are a lot shorter nowadays?

Anyway. It's not people destroying drums and pulling out guitar strings either.
Listen to Indestructible by Disturbed. Notice the background riff during the verses. That is one of the most interesting riffs i've heard in a long time(mainly because it sounds funky and took me 1 month++ of listening to the song to notice). And listen to the solos of a few metal songs. I suggest Slipknot for people with good resistance and Disturbed for those who prefer a softer form of Metal(or for those who don't prefer Metal at all). Listen to the riffs and solos. Some of the best guitarwork out there.

Then about drums. Listen to Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr by Trivium.
At least the first 10 seconds. Right there, you hear some good drumming. Listen to the rest of the song and pay attention to the drums. In fact, pay attention to the drums in every song you listen to. Notice the intricacies of the drumwork.

And vocals? Sure, some of them scream and shout, but have you ever looked at the lyrics? Most of them have a meaning to them(most, not all. There are always a few idiots really screaming and shouting for no reason). And the shouting? Come on, it lifts your mood. Gives you energy and rhythym. Headbangers bang heads for a reason. Too much energy is my reason. No idea about the others. Listening to metal makes you wanna jump around and DO stuff. At least for me it does. So give metal a chance. I don't wanna be the only kid in school who listens to metal.

However, in this case, it stands for National Patrol Camp.
P.S. I used 7 pages of words beginning with N, but am now too tired to continue.

It lasted 5 days and 4 nights, and it sucked. Our campsite was damn muddy. The people on our right had it worse though. Catholic High won the following:
Gold
Best Patrol
Best Orienteering Team
Best First Aid Team
Best Campsite
Best Camp Cooking
Best Campfire Skit

I'm sure there are more, but you get the point. The point being that we need to burn down Catholic High so that other people can win something. Won't tell you what we guys won. Find out when school starts. Suffice to say, it did not really meet our expectations. There were a total of less than 30 girls out of the 480 participants, and they mostly look like this.

Well, not EXACTLY, but you get the point. Mostly, not all ;)
To quote myself, "I don't even mind getting a (results undisclosed), but I didn't even talk to a girl the whole camp"
Except for that weird girl who giggled when I got annoyed at having to take back the cover of the box that we had to wash so I could wash it again. Who wasn't anything special. Oh well.

Then there was the thing about judges. While most of them were quite okay, like that little old guy and Benjamin(BENNY!), there's always a dick like that guy called Tat Wai to screw up your life. They say that our seniors pissed him off long ago and he still hates RV scouts. Screw that fuckface.

I think fun and comfort clouds my judgement. During the camp I massacred ants and assisted in the demise of 2 earthworms and 2 crickets. Oh well.
